Safety Procedures
Our first obligation to the children in our care is to provide for their safety while they are in our care. An emergency plan has been developed over the last two (2) years by a committee of teachers, working within guidelines provided by the Archdiocese of Washington.
Fire Drills
Regular fire drills are held, so the students know the procedure for evacuation of the building.
Crisis Evacuation
We will be adding one more crisis evacuation drill to the Church this year. Plans have been put in place to remove students to Gaithersburg Elementary School if we need to leave the property entirely. Emergency kits have been assembled for evacuation. Escape routes are posted in all rooms.
A family phone tree has been established so that emergency information can be communicated as fast as possible. Parent work phone and E-mail addresses are provided to all teachers.
Visitors
Visitors to the building during school hours are required to wear a badge for identification. All doors are locked except one visible to the receptionist. All visitors sign in . Children who leave early must be met by an approved adult who signs the register for early dismissal.
Field Trips
Teachers who take students off campus for field trips or visits close by, will maintain contact with the school office via cell phone or walkie-talkies.
Lock Downs
Procedures have been established for a lock-down of the school. In such a case, no students may leave the _classroom until a parent or an approved adult comes for them. Teachers will take names of parents and walk students to waiting cars for emergency dismissals.
All parent volunteers will be given training in emergency procedures.
All students will be given training and practice in emergency procedures.
Faculty will continue to meet and upgrade emergency plan.
