The Resource Room

The Resource Room is a welcoming space where students receive extra support in reading, writing, and math. With a thoughtful approach tailored to each child’s needs, Ms. Burns draws on her background in psychology and her experience across public and private schools to create a caring environment where students grow academically and build lasting confidence.

Using tools like Really Great Reading and IXL, Ms.Burns creates interactive, grade-level learning experiences that reinforce classroom instruction. Students in grades K–5 are assessed three times a year to help track progress and identify areas where additional support may be helpful.

Ms.Burns works closely with Pre-K and Kindergarten teachers to observe early learning behaviors and provide gentle guidance when students may benefit from extra practice, especially in areas like pronunciation and foundational literacy skills. While her primary focus is on elementary grades, she also supports middle school students as needed, ensuring that every learner feels seen and supported.

Some students visit the Resource Room once or twice a week, depending on their grade level and learning goals. Whether they’re part of a formal support plan or simply benefit from a little extra encouragement, the Resource Room is a place where students can thrive.

The growth students experience here is not only academic, but also foundational. As they build confidence in their abilities, they also develop the skills and mindset that will support their learning for years to come.

Ms. Villars

Spanish, PE and Homeroom Teacher

"Well as a student and even as a teacher, I LOVE how we are a small community. It makes it even better because we really get to know all the kids, more than just their name and grade, we get to know their interests and hobbies. I chose to be here to give back to the community that molded me into the person I am today. I also chose to be here to use my college education and help the future generations to come."
