Get Involved : Volunteer at St. Martin of Tours
At SMS, we believe that strong schools are built on strong partnerships, and our parent volunteers make all the difference. Whether you have an hour a week or want to help at special events, there’s a place for you here.
Explore the opportunities below to see how you can support our students, staff, and school community. From classroom help to event planning, every contribution counts, and we’re so grateful for your time and talents!
Please note: Many volunteer roles require completion of VIRTUS Child Protection Training. Details will be provided for each opportunity, including whether training is required and who to contact to get started.
Let’s build something great together!
Classroom Activities & Volunteers
St. Martin’s depends on parent volunteers to organize class parties and activities, chaperone field trips, and coordinate class-hosted school events. Volunteering in your child’s classroom is a fun and rewarding way to support your child’s class and the school. It is also an opportunity to connect with other parents and earn service hours. Please see the Parent-Student Handbook for information about service hours and requirements.
Some class activities and events require volunteers to be in compliance with Archdiocesan Child Protection Policies, including attendance at Virtus Child Protection Training program and clearance pursuant to completion of a background check. Please contact the school office at office@smsmd.org or (301) 990-2441 for more information.
Parent volunteers are needed for the following activities for each class:
Homeroom Parent(All school year)
Halloween Party(October)
Christmas Party(December)
Valentine’s Day Party(February)

Please visit Homeroom Parent and Volunteer/Service Information for more information about each activity and for Virtus Child Protection Training and Compliance requirements.

Thank you to all of our volunteers!
