Celebrating 100 years of Faith, Learning and Community

For a century, St. Martin of Tours School has been more than a place of learning, it’s been a home for generations of students, families, and educators rooted in Catholic tradition. As we honor our 100th anniversary, we reflect on the legacy that shaped us and the mission that continues to guide us.

Our History

St. Martin of Tours School has been a cornerstone of Catholic education in Montgomery County since 1925. As the oldest Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Washington established in the county, our legacy is one of deep commitment to academic excellence, spiritual growth, and community service.

A Legacy of Learning and Friendship

  • Founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, the school welcomed its first students on September 14, 1925.

  • The Sisters served faithfully until 1970, when leadership transitioned to lay faculty under the guidance of Monsignor Paul Meyer and the Parish Council.

  • A School Board and Home and School Association (HSA) were established to continue the Sisters’ mission of Catholic education.

Growth and Expansion

  • In 1988, thanks to the dedication of Rev. Americo DiNorcia, a new school and parish center opened its doors.

  • The school expanded to include a licensed After-Care Program, supporting working families and enriching student life.

Today and Beyond

  • Under the leadership of Principal Stephen Lamont, and in partnership with Rev. David G. Wells and the Parochial Vicars, St. Martin’s continues to offer a faith-centered, academically rigorous education for students in Pre-K through 8th grade.

  • Our faculty and administration work hand-in-hand to:

    • Nurture each child’s unique gifts and full potential

    • Foster a culture of mutual respect, Gospel values, and Catholic traditions, and

    • Prepare students to lead lives of purpose, compassion, and service

As we celebrate this historic milestone, we remain committed to nurturing future generations through faith, scholarship, and service. The legacy of St. Martin’s lives on in every student, every classroom, and every act of love and learning.

Ms. Villars

Spanish, PE and Homeroom Teacher

"Well as a student and even as a teacher, I LOVE how we are a small community. It makes it even better because we really get to know all the kids, more than just their name and grade, we get to know their interests and hobbies. I chose to be here to give back to the community that molded me into the person I am today. I also chose to be here to use my college education and help the future generations to come."
